Happy Home Furniture Bank relies on the help of hundreds of local volunteers to get furniture organized and delivered to those who are living in empty spaces. If you live in the Southern Indiana or Metro Louisville area and are passionate about helping people in need, consider joining our team of dedicated volunteers!

how to get involved

We have several ways to volunteer your time.

Happy Home Furniture Bank! 

  • Sorting small household items, such as dishes, linens, décor, etc.

  • Pick up dishes, cookware, and flatware to wash

  • Sorting, cleaning sofas, recliners, and other chairs

  • Sorting, cleaning side tables, coffee tables, and nightstands

  • Laundry runs to drop off and pick up at The Laundry Basket

  • Sorting and boxing up the small miscellaneous household items that are not ideal HHFB donations for referrals

  • Making minor furniture repairs, such as tightening up loose chair legs, sanding/painting dresser tops, etc.

 

Please specify the volunteer opportunity you'd like to take part in, in the comment section at the bottom of the sign-up form. Also, include the days and times you're available to help.

 

You may list more than one opportunity if you see multiple items you'd like to volunteer for.

 

If you do not have a preference of which opportunity you volunteer for, please type "Open" in the comment section at the bottom of the sign-up form and we will assign a task at the time of your arrival.

organize household goods

Volunteer in our warehouse by sorting and packing housewares items like dishes, cups, cookware and linens, so they are ready to get loaded onto our trucks and delivered to people in our community.

We can organize a 2-3 hour private volunteer event for your work, school or social group. Organizing and packing housewares is a great team-building activity! 

Consider us when looking for rewarding ways to fulfill your community service hour requirements for school and clubs. 

We welcome kids ages 16+ to our warehouse. Parents/guardians–you’re the best judge of your kids’ capacity to work at our warehouse for a couple hours. Parent supervision is required.
