Happy Home Furniture Bank relies on the help of hundreds of local volunteers to get furniture organized and delivered to those who are living in empty spaces. how to get involved
We have several ways to volunteer your time.

Sorting and boxing up the small miscellaneous household items that are not ideal HHFB donations for referrals

Making minor furniture repairs, such as tightening up loose chair legs, sanding/painting dresser tops, etc.
Please specify the volunteer opportunity you'd like to take part in, in the comment section at the bottom of the sign-up form. Also, include the days and times you're available to help.
You may list more than one opportunity if you see multiple items you'd like to volunteer for.
If you do not have a preference of which opportunity you volunteer for, please type "Open" in the comment section at the bottom of the sign-up form and we will assign a task at the time of your arrival.
organize household goods
Volunteer in our warehouse by sorting and packing housewares items like dishes, cups, cookware and linens, so they are ready to get loaded onto our trucks and delivered to people in our community.
We can organize a 2-3 hour private volunteer event for your work, school or social group. Organizing and packing housewares is a great team-building activity!
Consider us when looking for rewarding ways to fulfill your community service hour requirements for school and clubs.
We welcome kids ages 16+ to our warehouse. Parents/guardians–you’re the best judge of your kids’ capacity to work at our warehouse for a couple hours. Parent supervision is required.

I need furniture. How do I get furniture?Have your social worker, case manager, or care coordinator contact us to get the process started. All of our furniture recipients are referred by a partnering agency. We work directly with social and community agencies to coordinate every delivery. If you do not have representative, check out our list of partnering agencies. Please note: Contacting our office will only delay your process, as Happy Home Furniture Bank is unable to determine or recommend an agency.

How do I donate furniture?Check out our list of accepted items and schedule a pick up online or call 502-473-5993 to schedule a pick up. We do ask for a $50 gas donation upon pick up. You can also drop off donations at our warehouse – 252C America Place Dr, Jeffersonville, IN 47130. Please call ahead to set up a drop-off time.

How do I schedule a furniture pick up?It’s easy! Just schedule a furniture pick up online or call 502-473-5993 during business hours and we can add your donation to our pick up schedule.

What can we expect when volunteering at Happy Home Furniture Bank?When you come to volunteer at the warehouse you can expect to do any of the following: Unpack and organize household goods donations (e.g. dishes, linens, and home decor) Sort, organize, and add donations to shelves Pack “dish boxes” filled with dishes, cups, utensils, etc Pack “cooking boxes” filled with pots, pans, bakeware, and cooking utensils Pack “linen bags” filled with full linen sets Fold and sort clean linens Test and clean small appliances (e.g. toasters, coffee makers, and lamps)

What should I wear when volunteering?Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops). Keep in mind our warehouse does not have air conditioning, so it is quite warm during the summer. It is recommended that volunteers dress in layers when helping during the chilly winter weather.

What if my furniture has a stain or tear?Sorry, we don’t accept furniture with a stain or tear. We want to make sure we deliver gently used furniture to people in need. Our goal is to provide furnishings that help build confidence and dignity with each furniture delivery.

Why does my furniture need to be outside for pick up?Honestly, it comes down to liability. Happy Home Furniture Bank isn't a moving company so our insurance doesn't cover us as such. Please place your items on a porch, in the garage, or anywhere outside of the home. (Tax deductible pickup fee: $50) If this is not an option, we work do with a team of independent delivery/pickup drivers that are able to enter your home or apartment to pickup your donation. However, the tax deductible pick up fee for this extra service starts at $150 per pickup.

What is Happy Home Furniture Bank’s biggest need?Needs fluctuate depending on inventory, but we are always in great need of cash donations, volunteers, Partner Agencies, beds, new mattresses, sofas, and dressers.

Do you accept mattresses?Yes. We accept new, unused mattresses, only.
